Early snow and cold weather has opened most of the cross country ski trails in Mazama, WA and Winthrop, WA this December 4th, 2020 weekend. Many trails were freshly groomed including Chickadee, Cub, Gunn Ranch, Mazama, Browns Farm, Early Winters, and Winthrop.     Methow Valley outdoor recreation has another great winter sport to discover. The large meadows in the Methow Valley, combined with wind and soft late winter snow make for a perfect combo for kite skiing. This excellent skier was out on the Big Valley Ranch leaping right into the wind on Leap day of Leap year, and gathering a spectator crowd. At one point there was a second skier towed along behind with the setup strong enough to pull two skiiers across the valley. Another great reason to love Methow Valley, the place we call home.
