The March 2019 Methow Valley real estate reports are here including Winthrop, Washington, Mazama, Twisp, Carlton and all the Methow Valley. As expected the results are slower than last month and a bit slower than last year. Larwence Yun the Chief Economist from the National Association of Realtors discusses the tax question that may effect real estate home sales. In 2017 the tax benefit that investors enjoy was taken away from some home owners occupying their own homes. Although Mr. Yun says that 95% of home owners will not be impacted, some home owners may see an impact from mortgage interest and tax deduction limits. Buyers are seeing less competition in home buying across the nation, but Methow Valley is continuing to see very low inventory levels. The federal reserve has said that they do not plan any more interest rate hikes and this may help with home sales across the nation according to Mr. Yun however the impact of the tax change is yet to be seen. For Methow Valley the low interest rates may very well help with home sales right here in our prime and second home market. We expect inventory to build as spring approaches.
